Join Jerry Liu, president of D. G. Liu Contractor, Inc., as he and Remodelers Advantage vice president, Chuck Botwright, discuss why business owner/manager should nurture employee careers. Who has time to get involved in the details of an employee's hopes and dreams and who cares? We pay them and they should do their job. But are they doing their job? More specifically, are they doing the job we want them to and to the best of their ability? How do you know? If GP slippage or customer satisfaction (repeat / referral business is still the biggest part of your sales) has never been an issue for you and you have never found your effigy smoldering in a trash barrel, don't change what you are doing. But if you sense there is something missing in the level of employee commitment to the success of your business and therefore your own financial success and personal satisfaction, nurturing employee careers might be worth exploring.
Nurturing employee careers can provide the answers to these questions and perhaps more. And besides, doesn't it just feel good to know you have contributed to someone else's success and happiness, someone who has literally shed blood and sweat (and sometimes tears) on your business?
