Remote Deposits Save Time—and Gas

When it comes time to bring draw payments and other checks to the bank, wouldn’t it be great if the bank could come to you instead? That’s the idea behind making remote deposits from the office. The folks at Agape Construction Company in Kirkwood, MO, have been using this time-saving practice since last fall, and it couldn’t be easier.

Office Administrator Angie Eastridge has a check-scanning machine at her desk. When Agape’s project manager brings her a check, she simply scans it into the machine and the funds are automatically deposited into the company’s bank account. “Occasionally, the machine can’t read the routing number on a check,” says Eastridge, “but generally it is wonderful. It saves me a trip to the bank.”

If you’d like to make remote deposits from your office, contact your bank and see if it accepts electronic deposits. If it does, personnel there can advise you on what kind of check-scanning machine to purchase. The devices aren’t costly—most run a couple hundred dollars—and they will pay for themselves in reducing teller error and trips downtown.
